Events & Activities

The SAMS community has regular social gatherings as well as one-off functions, catering to people of all ages.  A description of regularly scheduled events are listed below.

St Albans & District Jewish Baby and Toddler Group
We have an active Parent and Toddler Group for all Jewish denominations in the St Albans area. The group meets regularly to enjoy songs, arts and crafts activities, puzzles and games. It also provides the opportunity for parents to meet and socialize.

SAMS Kaytana Summer Day Camp
SAMS runs a day camp, Kaytana, each Summer in St Albans for ages 5 to 10. This is staffed by a Rosh and a large number of Madrichim. There is a Jewish theme, and all education is done through fun and play. Children bring a packed lunch This usually takes place the week before August bank holiday at a central St Albans location. Contact the Synagogue for more information.

NOAM Clubs & Camps
NOAM, the Masorti Zionist youth movement, runs Clubs for SAMS kids on Sunday afternoons during term time from 5:00-7:00pm at centrally located St Albans venues or at members’ homes. We have our own Noam youth worker who visits St Albans each Sunday for clubs, and spends one Shabbat a month with us. All children from Years 3 to 10 (ages 8-15) are welcome to participate in Club activities, which include Shabbat celebrations, sleepovers, outings and more. The climax of the year is the Summer camps which are organized each year. NOAM Summer Camps cater for children going into Years 6 to 11 and are run in England, Spain and Israel. See the SAMS Diary and the AMS website, www.masorti.org.uk, for more details.

Jewish Cubs
All boys aged 8-10˝ are invited to join the 4th Radlett Cubs!  Meetings are every Tuesday evening during term time from 6:45pm-8:00pm.  Please contact the Synagogue for more information.

St Albans Jewish Contact Group (Friendship Circle)
Our Friendship Club of the elderly in the area meets approximately every six weeks.  We are always in need of more drivers to transport our members.  In addition, a few elderly are housebound and would benefit greatly from a home visit once in a while.  If you're able to help with driving or visiting, please call 01727 860642 or e-mail us at info@e-sams.org.

St. Albans Jewish Women's Forum
The St Albans Women's Forum meets on the first Monday of every month for talks and socials, including an annual amble.  All Jewish women are welcome. For more details, please contact the Synagogue.
